Description

This is the first light from my Takahashi (TAK) FS60 , a chrissie pressie, in LRGB using a Canon 30D (modified). The luminance is False.

The Rosette nebula is an active star forming region and at the center is a cluster of stars formed within the nebula, NGC2244. The nebula itself is estimated to be close to 5000 light years away. Its parked in the constellation of Monocerus which is next door to Orion.

Many images focus on the nebula itself, however in widefield , which this little telescope is great for, the nebula sits at the apex of a huge area of faint Hydrogen Alpha nebulosity. You get hints of that on the left hand side of the image
